Bullmastiffs - Pictures - Origin
Bullmastiffs are a cross between the Bulldog and the Mastiff. Almost proportional percentage of bloodlines (40% - Bulldog and 60% - the Mastiff) allowed Mosley, S. E., the main Bullmastiff developer, to breed a steady, agile dog capable of helping gamekeepers while guarding large estates and fighting poachers. The breed was recognized in 1924 in England. Sometime later, in 1933, the AKC registered the Bullmastiff also. Bullmastiffs - Pictures - What it Takes to be a Guardian
Needless to say, Bullmastiffs are not born with obedience skills. They need much training. Many Bullmastiff owners state that training should be done on a regular basis and should start very early. The basic obedience skills are acquired from the day of the puppy's appearance in your house. It should learn to react to your stimuli, for instance, coming up when called. The puppy should also learn to follow you and sit on command.
Generally, Bullmastiffs are independent dogs. The task is to show who the boss is. If you fail to do it at an early age, you are going to have a lot of trouble in the future. Any problems that occur while training Bullmastiffs can be managed with the help of handlers and specialists. Ask for advice or visit obedience classes in your local breed club. Do not expect quick results. Training Bullmastiffs requires much patience, yet is worth it.

Bullmastiffs Breeders - Bullmastiffs originated in England. Though much effort had been taken prior to produce strong, well-balanced dogs for guarding and protection, no sooner than at the end of the 19th century did dog lovers
achieve such brilliant results.
Bullmastiffs - Bullmastiffs are said to be gentle, devoted dogs. They are quiet and easy-going, and will hardly ever bark unless they have a good reason for it. The dog's short coat, which is usually brindle, red, or fawn requires little grooming. In terms of exercise the Bullmastiff is an excellent dog to keep. It will do well with one or two long walks a day. A leash will not cause it any discomfort.
Bullmastiffs stand at the shoulder about 25-27 inches high. Females, as a rule, are a little bit smaller.
Bullmastiffs Puppies - Bullmastiffs are gentle dogs with an alert and lively expression. They had a variety of uses in the past and retain some of their functions up to our days. These short-coated dogs are not troublesome to take care of. In the early years of the breed's history the preferred coat color was brindle. It helped the dog to perform its original function - guarding estates at night. Nowadays, red and fawn colored Bullmastiffs enjoy the most popularity. A dark mask and ears remind us of the Mastiff's ancestors.
Bullmastiffs are predisposed to gastric torsion, CHD, entropion, elbow dysplasia, and some other minor disorders. A number of diseases are congenital. Therefore, it is recommended to buy Bullmastiffs with pedigrees.
Bull Mastiffs - Bullmastiffs appeared in the beginning of the 20th century as a mixture of the Old English Mastiff and the British Bulldog. Its function was to assist gamekeepers in the prevention of poaching. So Bullmastiffs are intended to track quietly, cover short distances quickly, to knock down, to bite and pin. Today Bullmastiffs combine the features of a watchdog and a family pet. They are good natured and even tempered, but, as with all larger dogs, Bullmastiffs should be properly socialized and have obedience training. It isn't a dog for the timid and fragile.
Bullmastiffs are pack animals; they need to communicate with other dogs or with their human family. If the dog is banished and not getting interaction, it sure will be overexcited when led into the house. Not letting the dog be a member of the family can lead to dangerous behavior.
